Before, the furniture placement is off (click to enlarge)
Before:

These pictures reveal a truly lovely home which was furnished with beautiful things, however most were not being used to their advantage. Here, the wing chairs look lost in the big bay window.

The three matching wing chairs were one too many. The owner bought these from a furniture salesperson more concerned with selling furniture than actually helping the customer.

Due to their close proximity, the upholstery patterns on the love-seat were clashing with the pattern of the pub chairs set in the front corner.

The furniture layout was not conducive to conversation or traffic flow. The seating areas were all too far away from one another, and the third wing chair stuck out into what should be the natural traffic path through the long, narrow room.

After:

Just by repositioning the love-seat into the bay window and moving the third wing chair to an upstairs bedroom, the room looks better already!

The windows lacked dressing, plus the various colors and patterns in the room needed to be tied together. After exhausting the ready-made offerings, we found this gorgeous damask. We furnished custom panels to frame the windows, with matching valances for the eating-nook corner windows at the far end of the space.

We anchored the conversation area with an octagonal area rug that looks like it was custom-made for the space. The blues, reds and creams in the rug compliment the color-scheme beautifully.

After, an over-all look at the finished space. The room is polished, balanced and ready for quiet conversation, lavish entertaining or anything in-between! It was transformed from a space the husband rarely used into his favorite room!

We are still shopping for some final touch accessories, so be sure to check back soon!

wall decor, art and accessories design
Before, these accessories were not being displayed effectively (click to enlarge)

Before:

The display shelf here is not being used to it's true advantage. The jumble of greeting cards, while important to the recipient, are not really decorative items meant to showcased.

The couple, who worked and traveled in South Africa, collected this impressive array of wooden figurines, but they are lost in the vast empty space above the television.

After:

It is important to keep collections of like objects together, this maximizes their aesthetic impact.

The figurines look as if they are home on the African plains in their new space.  They now have a place of importance in the clients home, reminding them and their visitors of the special time they spent abroad.

This is a much more effective use of not only the accessories, but also the display case they are arranged in. The finished arrangement is cohesive and polished.

Masterbath
Pretty, but plain. (click to enlarge)

Before:

This recently renovated master bath was pretty, but plain!  After helping the owner
decide on the design details such as cabinetry, marble tile and paint colors during the
construction phase, we were called in to assist with the finishing touches. It looked nice,
but we knew we could  make it even better!

After:

Like Cinderella dressed for the ball,  this master bath now looks like the elegant
retreat the owners always envisioned! We swapped the painting with one from another
room to add the gold-toned frame (the original looks better in it's new home as well!), added some elegant brass wall sconces with a trio of stately candlesticks to match, a woven basket to hold lotions & potions,  an orchid for a touch of little greenery and-
 Voilá!

Two brand new looks-one for daytime and one for evening!

Dining room chair
This beautiful chair is hidden (click to enlarge)

Before:

In this picture, see how the chair fades into the black background of the wall color.
It becomes like a chameleon, very hard to notice! The original wall color itself was rather glamorous, but it did not work well with the furnishings. This is an example of not using
color effectively.

After:

The beauty of the chair really shines through when it does not have to compete with
the black wall color. Notice the graceful detail in the arms, which was lost before against
the dark background. See how such a simple change  can dramatically affect the beauty of
your home and it's furnishings!

(After-dining room paint is Benjamin Moore's "Desert tan" #2153-50)

Dining room
Again, here the dining furniture seems lost (click to enlarge)

Before:

The beautiful mahogany furniture languished against the dark walls. Notice the console table to the left. It was just an uncoordinated collection of, well.... stuff!

After:

A simple change of paint color brings the furniture into glorious focus! And the console?
An elegant pair of topiaries now flank a tasteful glass bowl filled with blown-glass ornaments. Gone are the wimpy wall sconces, replaced with a pair more proportional to the other furnishings in the room. The same room, the same furniture-just refined to show the homeowners true sense of style!
